A Notary Public bond protects the public. The Errors and Omissions coverage that is purchased will protect the Notary. E&O (Errors & Omissions) insurance provides protection in the event the Notary commits a negligent act or makes an error or omission while acting as a Notary Public. If this error or omission causes a loss to the public and the Notary Public is held liable. The Notary Public is legally obligated to pay for that loss.
After you have successfully passed the Notary Public Exam, the Secretary of State will be mailing a package to you containing:
Your commission certificate and your CERTIFICATE OF AUTHORIZATION.
You will need these to purchase a bond (to protect the public) and we strongly recommend you get E&O (Errors and Omission) insurance (to protect you). We offer insurance options from $15k to $100k.
BEFORE you can receive a Notary Public Seal or Stamp, or insurance, Notary Public Education needs the following after you place your order:
These are the instructions that need to be followed to receive your Bond ect... before you go to the county recorder.
We will need the following scanned, emailed (email@example.com) or faxed (If faxed please provide us with an email and contact phone number) the fax number is 925-401-9524 to our office:
1) Your Notary Commission. Make sure in the email you include a contact number in case we have any questions. Once we receive the Commission copy we will email you a form with an address to send your Certificate of Completion to, so we can finish filling the order and get you your, bond, seal and E&O insurance (if ordered).
2) Once you receive this email form. Once you receive this form. You will print it out in color.
3) You will send the form with the original Certificate of Authorization to the address we provide, you can mail (FedEx, UPS or USPS) it to the address provided, once we receive the form and your Certificate of Authorization in the mail we will fill the rest of your order.
PLEASE NOTE: We must receive the original Certificate of Authorization – copies will not be accepted and will hold up the process.
IMPORTANT LEGAL NOTICE: We can not ship Notary Public Seals or Stamps without receiving the original CERTIFICATE OF AUTHORIZATION. We must get this original document so the seal can be manufactured.
Please note a $50.00 rush fee applies if these are not provided within 10 days of the date that you receive them from the Secretary of State.
Once the bond is generated and returned to you will need to take the oath of office and file your bond with the county.
The seal maker sends the CERTIFICATE OF AUTHORIZATION back to the Secretary of State and a record of your seal imprint is kept on file.
